Nicole Magallón is a NYC-based lyric coloratura soprano and musical theatre vocalist. A Panamanian-American, and native of Katy, Texas.
Nicole is a professionally trained operatic soprano singing all over New York City in the styles of jazz, musical theatre, and opera.
She is known to seamlessly transition from her lyric operatic sound to jazz and golden age, to contemporary musical theatre and pop/soul music.
Her most recent works include Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, and Pitti-Sing in The Mikado with the Texas Tech Opera Theatre, as well as Ronnette in Little Shop of Horrors and Belle (understudy) in Disney’s Beauty & The Best. Musical theatre being her first introduction to her love for the stage, she was also seen in Hairspray and You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. Equally at home in concert work, Nicole has appeared in various masterworks concerts as a member of the Houston Symphony Chorus, as well as the soloist in Poulenc’s Gloria in 2015 at Morton Ranch. Nicole has appeared as a Young and Emerging Artist with Taos Opera Institute in New Mexico, Music in the Marche in Italy, and the Berlin Opera Academy in Berlin, Germany.
Over the years, she’s worked closely with the world-renowned, spectacular, mezzo-soprano, Susan Graham, Rebecca Wasco-Hayes (soprano) and the incredible and incomparable, Diana Soviero. She has studied with scholarly coaches such as Joshua Greene and Dr. William Averill. She’s also had the opportunity to be featured by jazz pianists like the great Johnny O’Neal and Ben Patterson at NYC’s famous jazz club, Mezzrow.
In her time in Lubbock, Texas, she was awarded first place in the Texas Tech University Concerto Competition in February 2019 and performed her winning piece with the Texas Tech Symphony Orchestra on November 22nd in Hemmle Recital Hall. She was also in collaboration with Maestro David Cho of the Lubbock Symphony performing private and outreach concerts in the city.
